Dear Friends:
I am proud to announce that your generous
support has allowed us to establish our first permanent endowment: THE
BRAIN CANDY PROJECT FUND at the University of Minnesota Amplatz
Children's Hospital, which will be overseen by the Minnesota Medical
Foundation.
Here is the wording on the endowment:
NAME: The Brain Candy Project Fund
RECOGNITION: The Brain Candy Project is a non-profit organization
formed in 2006 by Henry Allen in memory of his son, Cameron, to provide
a support system for parents of critically ill children, especially for
those who have lengthy hospital stays.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the Fund is to provide a source of funding
at the Amplatz Children's Hospital to support the needs of families of
critically ill children who are patients of the hospital, with a
preference for subsidizing parking costs.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: A contribution in the amount of $25,000 from the
Donor to the Foundation will establish the Fund. The Foundation may in
its discretion accept additional gifts to the Fund from any person at
any time.
It is appropriate to make this announcement today, as it precisely
three years ago, Christmas Day, that Cameron was admitted to the
hospital we have just endowed. We will always remember our friends on
5B. The nurses, nurses aides, doctors, interns, custodial staff, and
our community for getting us through that difficult time. This
endowment is just the first step toward paying forward what we could
never repay to all the people who supported us in our time of need.
Bless you all.
If you are interested in supporting this particular Fund with a
generous gift, please contact me. Please spread the word about The
Brain Candy Project, and the vital work we are doing.
With all the love in my heart, and on behalf of Cameron,
Henry Allen
